Liquor sales

Learn about liquor sales licences.

Overview

A liquor sales licence allows you to store, sell or serve liquor in places such as bars, restaurants, lounges and nightclubs. If you’re looking for a liquor permit for special, one-time events, please go to the special occasion permits page.

Types of liquor licences

There are two classes of licence under something called a β€œlicence to operate a liquor consumption premise”:Β

  • Liquor sales licence
This licence allows you to keep, sell or serve liquor to drink in places such as bars, restaurants, lounges and nightclubs. It allows patrons to drink liquor at a licensed place. You can also deliver liquor for a fee from a licensed place.Β
  • Mini bar licence
You’ll need this licence if you will only sell liquor from a mini bar in hotel rooms. You need a mini bar endorsement if you want to have mini bars in hotel rooms and you already have a licence for another part of your business, such as a restaurant or bar.
