Endorsements

Find information here about endorsements, which are add-ons to a liquor sales licence.

Overview

Endorsements are add-ons to a liquor sales licence. They allow you to sell and serve liquor in certain situations that may be different from what’s allowed with a liquor sales licence.

You can apply for and hold more than one type of endorsement. When you combine a liquor sales licence with an endorsement, you can sell and serve liquor under the conditions specified by that endorsement.

Temporary patio extensions are not an endorsement. Read more on applying for a temporary patio.

Endorsements can be added when you apply for a liquor sales licence through the iAGCO portal. You can also add an endorsement once you have a liquor sales licence through the iAGCO portal.

There is no fee for endorsements, except for golf course endorsements.

Endorsements expire at the same time as your liquor sales licence.

Types of endorsements

There are several different types of endorsements:

Mini bar endorsement
A mini bar endorsement allows you to sell liquor from a mini bar in a room that’s rented by the night and that is adjacent to the licensed premises. A mini bar endorsement doesn’t allow service. Patrons are to open the mini bar and serve themselves in their room.

Caterer’s endorsement
A caterer’s endorsement lets you sell and serve liquor at an event in a place other than what’s covered under your liquor sales licence.

Brew pub endorsement
This lets you sell and serve beer that you manufacture at your licensed premises. The beer must be manufactured at your licensed premises.

Wine pub endorsement
This lets you sell and serve wine that you manufacture at your licensed premises. The wine must be made at your licensed premises.Β

Golf course endorsement
This endorsement lets you sell and serve liquor on the playing area of a golf course.

Bring-your-own-wine endorsement
This endorsement gives you the ability to allow patrons to bring sealed, unopened containers of commercially-made wine to a restaurant or banquet room for them to drink. This endorsement also allows you to serve the wine to patrons.

Room service endorsement
With this endorsement, you can sell and bring liquor to a room that’s rented by the night and is adjacent to the premises covered by your liquor sales licence.
